Raised on Disney princesses and tales of white rabbits and boys who never grow up, I'm the little girl who always dreamed of falling down a rabbit hole or flying with the aid of a little pixie dust. But, like Wendy Darling, I grew up of my own free will a day quicker than the other girls. I would have settled for princess or keeper of the lost boys, but life had other plans for me. Born in Austin and raised in the heart of Houston, straying far from home never felt right. So I stayed, got a couple of degrees from the University of Texas, passed the bar, and became a full fledged attorney at law. You don't have to call me Esquire, but you'll get a bigger smile if you do.
Along the way I sang in churches, bars, baseball parks and even did a couple of shows with the Houston Grand Opera. Music is music. There is no good or bad, there's simply what speaks to you. And music doesn't just speak to me, it screams for my attention from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep. Even in my dreams, I find music still demands to be heard. Music is the only thing I've ever really needed to do, but it was not a dream I allowed myself to live out loud until now. With skills honed in pulpits, karaoke bars and myriad musical theatre productions, I've arrived at a place where I'm performing several days a week and writing more than ever before. Between my solo project, the Grievous Angels (consisting of myself and the incredible talents of Debbie Forrest and Libby Koch), and singing with singer/songwriter Brant Lee Croucher, it has been an exciting year. And it's just getting started. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings. Thank you for your support!
